5 Questions with Liberty County Chamber & CVB CEO Leah Poole

Categories: News,The Right Blend Blog

This week we sat down for a chat with our very own Chamber & CVB CEO, Leah Poole. As a Riceboro native and head of two significant community organizations, we wanted to find out about her favorite things to do in Liberty County and what visitors should not miss while they’re staying here.

Leah’s household includes one kid, two dogs and an evil cat. She enjoys reading, cooking, being on the water and riding on dirt roads. She knows how to gut a deer and process the meat, which is always a handy skill. And when she’s not enjoying outdoor activities, she’ll settle in for just a bit of TV time to watch The Walking Dead, The 100 and Game of Thrones

We also have to note that Leah takes some great photos while she’s out and about in Liberty County.  The Instagram photos on this page are by her, except for the very last one, which is by Joanna Ng of Ng Photography. Follow the Chamber/CVB on IG at Explore Liberty for more beautiful photos by Leah and other local photographers!

Take a cue from Leah to find out where to go and what to see and do all around our lovely Liberty County!

1. What’s new in Liberty County that visitors should know about?

Oglethorpe Square! Our largest retail center with stores like Ulta, Hobby Lobby, Dick’s, TJ Maxx and more to come! This center has become a hub for our community and is working to help keep our dollars local! Shop Local, Shop Liberty!

2. What’s one thing that is a must-do while visitors are here?

A visitor to Liberty County should definitely not miss the chance to be at or on the water! Most people don’t realize that we’re one of six truly coastal counties. Kayaking, boating, fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, whatever your water sport I’m sure we have it. Or if you just like to sit and watch the water roll past, we’ve got plenty of rocking chairs!

3. What’s your favorite weekend activity in Liberty County?

Kayaking! We’re big outdoors people in our house, so anything that gets us out of the house and out on the water is where you can find us. Our dogs love it too!

4. What’s the best place or places to go for local dining?

My personal favs include The Pour House and Rodeo and then out in the county I love the Sunbury Crab Company. I would say we go to the Crab Co at least weekly, you can’t beat the food or the service and the atmosphere is to die for with views of the intercoastal waterway and amazing sunsets!

5. What would you pick if you could only choose to save the date for one local annual event?

Blues, Brews & BBQ! It blends my three favorite things, good music, beer and amazing food! It takes place in September and features local, regional and nationally known acts.
