Categories: News,The Right Blend Blog

When people think of making a movie they imagine a production stage in Hollywood or an exotic country far from home. But what you may not realize is how often film production crews are setting up and working right here in our backyard! Liberty County has an abundance of diverse backdrops that are perfect for filming. We have seen everything from action-packed TV shows to historic period pieces. The film industry in Georgia as a whole is booming, and we are excited that we’re getting some of the action right here at home!

The Liberty CVB is the Camera Ready liaison for Liberty County, which means we are the go-to office for production crews to get the necessary permits, find resources and get general information about our area. The most frequent request we receive is pictures, pictures, and MORE pictures! Location scouting is what grabs the attention of productions so we are always happy to take pictures of our beautiful county to share. We never know when we will get a request or where the request might take us, but it’s always a fun adventure. It’s one of the many perks of working in the CVB office and definitely an aspect of the job that keeps us on our toes!

If you’re wondering why the film industry is so important to our office and our community – wonder no more! It’s no secret that people LOVE to visit where their favorite film or TV show was produced to see if they can spot familiar locations. But the film industry has a much bigger impact than the aftermath of visitors. Wherever a film or TV show decides to film, they utilize every aspect of their surroundings to make life on and off set as comfortable as possible. The cast and crew will need lodging, catered food, groceries, laundry services, props, gas for vehicles and the list goes on and on. All of those needs will be met and fulfilled by the community – potentially our community, which means a positive impact on our economy. Some of the productions can put upwards of millions of dollars back into the local economy and the proof is in the increased tourism dollars over the last few years.

We are ecstatic to see what the film industry has in store for our community this year and the coming years as well. You can check out the list of films and TV shows that have previously filmed locally here. If you’re interested in more information about filming in Liberty County, you will find that and the film permit application here.
