Our CVB hosted the Young Adult Liberty Leaders (YALL) for tourism day. We showed them around Liberty County and for tours of the Historic Baptismal Trail in Riceboro, Historic Dorchester Academy in Midway and the Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association Museum in Hinesville. It was a day filled with learning, exploring and plenty of fun!
Thank you to Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes, Captain David Edwards and Captain Keith Jenkins for facilitating an informative and engaging workshop! Participants learned about active shooter awareness, incident response, workplace violence and received demonstrations on basic self-defense techniques.
We had a terrific time celebrating the grand opening and ribbon cutting for DICK’s Sporting Goods located at 863 W Oglethorpe Hwy in Hinesville (Oglethorpe Square Shopping Center). DICK’s Sporting Goods offers a wide selection of sports gear, equipment, apparel and footwear.
We had a fantastic time celebrating a ribbon cutting for LongHorn Steakhouse located at 825 W Oglethorpe Hwy in Hinesville (Oglethorpe Square Shopping Center). LongHorn Steakhouse serves their legendary steaks and fresh, never frozen, chicken and seafood. All surplus food is being donated to the local Manna House to feed the homeless and needy. Proceeds from alcohol sales during their two “friend and family” days are being donated to the Liberty County Recreation Department.
We had a great time celebrating a ribbon cutting for American Fence & Feed and Bootleggers Package Store at their location, 5826 W. Oglethorpe Hwy in Walthourville (near Parker’s #60). Locally-owned and operated, Bootleggers Package Store is the newest addition for Owners Jeff and Julie Dawson who have been running American Fence and Feed for over 18 years. American Fence and Feed provides fence installation and repairs on residential, commercial, and industrial properties. They also service all livestock and pet needs in addition to lawn, garden, fishing and hunting needs. Bootleggers Package Store, is a one-stop shop for a variety of beer, wine, and liquor, in addition to lottery and cigarettes.
We held the February Progress Through People Luncheon featuring the STAR Student/Teacher Recognition Program on Thursday, February 23rd. The STAR Student and STAR Teacher for First Presbyterian Christian Academy, Liberty County High School and Bradwell Institute were given recognition by the school system, the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce as well as from area local businesses. A big thank you to the 2016-2017 Young Adult Liberty Leaders class for volunteering at the event. Thank you so much to Savannah Technical College, Liberty Campus for sponsoring the luncheon this year. In addition, thank you to Farmhouse Restaurant for catering and to the Liberty County Performing Arts Center for having us!
