Construction is now complete on the Historic Baptismal Trail and a ribbon cutting was held on Wednesday, June 10th to celebrate the milestone. The baptismal pool dates back to the 1840s, where African-American slaves were baptized by leaders of their congregation. Baptisms continued there until the early 1940s. The “round hole” was used by locals for fishing, swimming and hunting.
The CVB hosted the 2015 Leadership Liberty Class for Tourism Day on June 3, 2015. We took them to the Midway Museum, Historic Midway Church & Cemetery, Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center, the Independent Telecommunications Pioneers Association Museum and the Hinesville Area Arts Council Gallery and Holton’s Seafood for lunch.
Believing in the NuYu held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce on May 29, 2015. Believing in the NuYu is a mentoring program helping teens ages 13-17 find their “new self.”
The May 2015 Progress through People luncheon featuring Garrison Commander Col. Kevin F. Gregory with the State of the Garrison sponsored by GeoVista Credit Union was held on May 28th 2015.
South Georgia Bank and Keep Liberty Beautiful co-hosted the May 2015 Business After Hours on May 21st. Keep Liberty Beautiful recognized their volunteers and presented awards. May 21st was also Red Nose day, so we wore red noses to bring awareness to children living in poverty.
