3rd ID Day at the Capital

HINESVILLE, GA. – The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau in collaboration with the Coastal Georgia Military Affairs Coalition and state legislators celebrated 3rd ID Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, March 29.

The event was hosted by Representative Al Williams, D-Midway, and organized by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce/CVB and the Coastal Georgia Military Affairs Coalition. The focus of this event was to demonstrate the significance of Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield to coastal Georgia and the state as a whole, as well as proclaim the pride Georgians have for the men and women of the 3rd ID.

Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield leaders were at the Capital, along with several area elected officials, as Rep. Williams and others recognize the contributions of the 3rd ID.

In 2015, Rep. Williams started the salute to honor the sacrifices made by the soldiers. This bi-annual tradition also highlights the support that Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield gets from the coastal counties surrounding the installation.

“We are excited about the 3rd Infantry Division’s visit,” Williams said. “We have a lot of support in the House for our division, as well as a tremendous amount of pride in our men and women in uniform.”

“This was an awesome opportunity to see State government at work, as well as celebrate the contributions made by our 3rd ID soldiers,” said Leah Poole, CEO, Liberty County Chamber of Commerce/CVB.
