5 Liberty Co. Parks Perfect for a Picnic

The season of Spring is the perfect time for picking fruit and going to ball games, but it’s also a great time to plan a picnic! Take advantage of the warm weather and sunshine we’re having right now; a little Vitamin D is exactly what we need after all these cold snaps. Pack a cooler and invite your friends for a meal outdoors. We’ve scouted out a few parks throughout Liberty County that would be absolutely perfect for your next picnic!

  1. Eve Park: Colonels Island, Georgia

Eve Park is complete with pavilion, bathrooms and a playground for the kiddos. Visitors to this park can enjoy their meal while looking out onto the water and can even put their boats in at Halfmoon Marina just a short walk from the park.

  1. Bradwell Park: downtown Hinesville, Georgia

Right in the heart of downtown Hinesville is Bradwell Park. It was once the site of the original Bradwell Institute called Hinesville Institute at the time. The park is now a small retreat where you can grab some lunch and find a bench to rest on while you relax by the fountain. You’ll be in full view of the historic Liberty County Courthouse and can stroll through multiple art galleries at your leisure.

  1. Irene B. Thomas Park: Hinesville, Georgia

Located on E.G. Miles Parkway, Irene B. Thomas Park is a favorite for outdoor lovers. Aside from a covered pavilion with kitchen and grill, the park boasts a fishing pond with a boat ramp. Stay for a while and go fishing! A paved walking trail around the pond makes for another nice treat for those just looking to picnic a short while!

  1. Jones Creek Park: Isle of Wight, Georgia

Admittedly, this is one of our favorites. The sunsets, the dolphin sightings, the ease of putting in a kayak- what more could you ask for? A picnic spot that’s what! In addition to the great amenities mentioned above, this LCRD park also has a pavilion with picnic tables. Have a sunset feast at this park after a day in the sun!

  1. Gill Park: Fleming, Georgia

The newest park in Liberty County, Gill Park is located on Freedman Grove Road in Fleming. It’s another LCRD park with pavilion and playground! Plan a picnic for an excuse to explore this new addition to Liberty County!

  1. Bryant Commons: Commonly referred to as Hinesville’s Central Park, this oasis in Hinesville is sure to calm the senses. The park is right off Oglethorpe Highway and has many opportunities to enjoy your picnic. Bring the kids for a day at the playground and share a sandwich on the benches overlooking the pond and Veterans Walk. Or perhaps your fur babies would enjoy a treat at the dog park!

Eve Park, Irene B. Thomas Park, Jones Creek Park and Gill Park are all operated by the Liberty County Recreation Department and can be rented out for birthday parties, showers and other events!
