5 Mouthwatering Plates to Enjoy Here in Liberty County
Living in the South, especially coastal Liberty County, means one thing….we have no shortage of good food! You can find everything from freshly caught seafood to traditional home-style staples and even cuisine from around the world. Because there are so many delicious choices, we decided to put together a list of our top five plates you don’t want to miss out on!
Izola’s Country Café

Izola’s Country Café serves up traditional southern staples in a cafeteria-style restaurant that will never leave you hungry, but you will want to come back for more! Fried chicken, fried fish, mashed potatoes, grits, collards, mac & cheese, and so much yummy traditional southern goodness! And they serve breakfast too! Have you ever had breakfast in a cup? Well, they can make it happen for you, be sure to go check it out.
Good to Go Jamaican
Good to Go Jamaican is an island haven serving up dishes like curried goat, fried plantains, saltfish, and saffron chicken right in the middle of town. The rich flavors and smells of the Caribbean surround you as soon as you walk in the door. Oh, and they deliver!
Sunbury Crab Co.

The Sunbury Crab Company offers incredible views of the coast here in Liberty County while serving freshly caught seafood daily (Wednesday-Sunday). This family restaurant serves oysters and Blue Crab by the bucket, along with crab cakes, steaks, fried shrimp and more. You can certainly drive to the place but a fun addition is a full-service dock so you can go by boat if you have one!
Sho’ Nuff Smokin Good BBQ

Nothing says the south like BBQ! You can find it all at Sho’ Nuff Smokin Good BBQ including pulled pork, ribs, chicken and even turkey legs on Thursdays! Don’t worry if you don’t have time to make it out towards the western end of the county to visit the restaurant. Owner Mr. Garrett can be found at most events in Liberty County including the annual Blues, Brews & BBQ and the Hinesville Farmers Market.
Rodeo Mexican Restaurant
Rodeo Mexican Restaurant is a local favorite with authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices, plus an incredible staff. With veggies chopped fresh daily and great menu items like carnitas, Tacos El Diablo and Nachos Rodeo, this restaurant is the place you go where everyone knows your name (at least after a visit or two!).
In the South, food is an experience – it evokes memories, moments and so much more. The tradition of food in the South is incredible, and it doesn’t have to be southern food, it’s just good food. Food brings us together, makes us family without any real ties and creates an atmosphere you only find below the Mason Dixon Line.
