Now that the kids are out of school, don’t let cabin fever set in! We’ve got tons of great events coming up next month your family will love to attend.  Get the crew together and spend some time outside this summer!  A day spent outside is never a day wasted!

 

Liberty County Proud & Healthy

First Friday of every month, beginning on June 2, 2017

Registration: 6pm, Run/Walk: 6:30pm, Free

Shuman Center, James Brown Park

Start your summer off by getting a little exercise!  The Liberty County Board of Commissioners will host its first 5k Fun Run/Walk on June 2 at James Brown Park in Hinesville. Bring the family along and stretch those legs!

Whiskers & Bobbers

Free for Ages 15-under

Holbrook Pond

Head out to Holbrook Pond on Fort Stewart and take your little guys fishing!  Kids ages 15 and under are invited to fish for free until 1pm.  There will be a 5 Catfish limit, with a cleaning station provided!  Bait and poles will be available to use while supplies lasts! Whether it’s their first time fishing or they’re an experienced angler, the kiddos will have a blast!

Briar Bay Park to Dorchester Academy

Take a step in another’s shoes and walk to route African American students walked in the past during the Walk to Dorchester. The morning starts off early at Briar Bay Park and end after you’ve made your way to Dorchester Academy. Whether you run, jog or walk the 9.5 mile route, you’ll come away with an experience to remember. Finish your morning off with breakfast at the Dorchester Academy Boys’ Dormitory.

Wrap up this busy month of outdoor excitement with a movie under the stars at Holbrook Pond. Bring your blankets, pillows and chairs for a night of family fun. This month’s feature is Pete’s Dragon. Popcorn and drinks will be for sale, too!  (Cash only.) The movie starts 15 minutes after sunset!
