A Quick Guide to Our Seasonal Visitors – Hummingbirds
Spring is an exciting season for coastal Liberty County as the flowers begin to bloom, bees are buzzing and a lot of our colorful feathered friends return including the ruby-throated hummingbird! These petite beauties can be spotted as they flit through your gardens looking for something sweet to drink from March until the fall. Native plants to the Coast like azaleas, honeysuckle and Rose of Sharon are excellent plants to attract hummingbirds. If your thumb isn’t so green, a feeder filled with homemade nectar is another great way to attract these tiny speed fliers. Mix 1 cup of water with ¼ cup of pure sugar for your homemade nectar and be sure to replace it every other day!
