Break Out Your Sneakers and Head to Liberty County for 3 Incredibly Fun Fall 5ks
Although we love summer and all the fun that comes with longer, warmer days – there is something welcoming about that cool, crisp fall weather we get here in south Georgia. The official first day of Fall is September 23 this year, but we are already seeing our temperatures dropping just a tad where we can bump our AC up a degree or two. Fall is a busy season for a lot of sports and activities but especially for runners! October is known as the prime month for runners and boy do we have an incredible line up of 5k races and fun runs this year! So, whether you are an avid runner or simply wanting to try something new, check out this list of upcoming races, throw on your running shoes and let’s get moving!

October 5 Free Family Fun Run/Walk
Join the Liberty County Board of Commissioners & the Liberty Proud & Healthy working committee for a family fun run/walk at Shuman Rec Center. It is being offered every first Saturday of the month. It is free and open to the public.
Where: Shuman Recreation Center 800 Tupelo Trail, Hinesville
Start: registration 7:30 am; run/walk begins at 8am
Price: Free
October 5 Monster Mash Dash 5K and Fun Run
Healthy Hinesville and the City of Hinesville have teamed up to bring our community a fun way to get active with this race! Both a 1-mile fun run and 5k are available to participate in and if you register before September 20th you will get a race t-shirt as well. Prizes for the first three runners in various age groups will be awarded and don’t forget this is a Monster Mash Dash so dress to impress in your best costume for a chance at a prize as well.
Where: Bradwell Park in downtown Hinesville
Start: Registration is at 6 am with the 1-mile fun run starting at 7am and the 5k follows at 7:30am.

October 12 10th Annual Sunbury 5K
Head to east Liberty County to Sunbury for the 10th Annual Sunbury 5K. This smaller scale race has become a staple for both racers and walkers alike. Arrive ready to run or just go for a good stroll around the historic Sunbury area and finish up at the local hidden gem, the Sunbury Crab Company, for an amazing burger and beverage with friends. All registration proceeds are used to benefit local charities such as the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans, Liberty County Homeless Coalition and Carpathia Paws.

Price: $25.00 Race Fee + $2.50 Signup Fee
