Cheers to Cinco de Mayo with a Blue Margarita

It’s once again Cinco de Mayo, a day of celebration, joy and, dare we say, margaritas! Let us first take a second to recognize why Cinco de Mayo is so important. May 5, 1862, is the day that the Mexican Army took victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla. Now we don’t know about you but that’s a reason to celebrate! Let’s cheers to Cinco de Mayo with a blue margarita!

Ingredients

  • Salt/sugar for rim (optional)
  • Simple syrup
  • 1 ½ ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce blue curacao
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • Garnish: lime wedge or orange slice & cherry

How to Make It

To rim glass: Take salt or sugar and place a small amount into a saucer. Then use a lime wedge to rub the edge of your glass to moisten. Lightly dip the rim of your glass into the saucer to rim the glass (be sure to tap off any excess). Set glass aside.

Make the Drink: Fill your cocktail shaker up with ice, then add your tequila, blue curacao, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake well and pour into your chilled glass. Garnish with a lime wedge or an orange slice & cherry. This margarita pairs nicely with sitting poolside with a Liberty County ball cap. Happy Cinco de Mayo!
