Discovering the People of Liberty County

Liberty County is a melting pot of different people and cultures and that is one of the many things that makes us unique. We have folks from all over the globe thanks to being home of the 3rd Infantry Division, the largest military installation east of the Mississippi River. It’s always interesting and fun to meet new people and learn about what brought them to our county and hear about what experiences they have had that can help shape our futures as well.

This week it was our pleasure to meet Inga Krasileviciute-Cessna, a native of Lithuania and new to the US in the last several months. Inga and her husband Steven, an active duty soldier, met while he was stationed overseas. This 19-year Army vet said that they met online and when they met in person for the first time he knew he couldn’t let her get away (insert heart here!). Oh, and Steven also teaches new motorcycle owners how to ride with Savannah Harley Davidson!

Inga has a fascinating story, and I’m sure we only heard an abbreviated version in the several hours we spent with her. With a degree in International Law this 37-year-old entered a make-up contest one day and to her surprise won and was offered a scholarship to cosmetology school, which she accepted.

The rest, as they say, is history. Having just returned recently from her first world (yes, you read that correctly) competition, Inga placed 5th in the world in one category and 6th in the world in another. She now has 50 diplomas that certify her as a highly trained professional in make-up and hair. Her work has appeared in magazines all over the globe.

I asked her why she decided to do make-up instead of staying in law and her quick response was, “Because it’s fun!”

Even only having been in the states a short while she has already worked on a tv show and with numerous other clients, honing her craft and having fun while she does it. Inga and Steven spent some time with us, showing us what is that she does and man we were impressed!

In slightly under 4 hours both myself and Andrea were transformed into images of Halloween. Did we mention that Inga also takes amazing photos!? Well she does! The talent that something like this takes is absolutely amazing, and she does it all with a smile!

And in case you were wondering she does “normal” make-up and hair as well. She has been quite busy already with brides, fashion shoots and more. She is available by calling 912-318-7513 and you can find her on Facebook @Inga-Krasileviciute-make-up-artist-hairstylist.

We so enjoyed making new friends with Inga and Steven and are overjoyed to know that when Steven retires after his 20 years in the service next year that they will be staying here and becoming a permanent part of the landscape!
