If you haven’t visited Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center, you are definitely missing out! The scenic boardwalk stretches 7/10ths of a mile and takes you through a number of different ecosystems. Begin walking in the freshwater wetlands and end up in the saltwater marsh! It’s a great opportunity to learn about nature and wildlife and get some exercise!

Fort Morris Historic Site

Our state historic site is one of the most peaceful places in Liberty County! Tucked away in the marsh grass of the coast, it sets the perfect scene for a nice walk. Dogs aren’t allowed inside the museum, but the fort itself and the grounds are welcome to leashed pets. We know both of you will appreciate the beautiful view of the St. Catherines Sound!

Historic Baptismal Trail

Cooper Dog Friendly Spots in Liberty County

The coastal city of Riceboro has many hidden gems, but the Historic Baptismal Trail is one of our personal favorites! The boardwalk takes you down a path that was used for over 100 years by a congregation of enslaved people. Take a walk on this path and become a part of living history! It is perfect for some reflection and quiet time with your four-legged friend.

Bryant Commons

Located in the heart of Hinesville, this park is a quick trip to nature without ever leaving the city! Bryant Commons is a 150-acre passive park with a number of amenities including a playground, a one-mile walking trail around a 15-acre pond and a dog park! Relax under the old oak trees and take a walk around the dog trails. It is sure to keep tails wagging!

Johnnie B. Frasier Park

A local favorite in the city of Walthourville is Johnnie B. Frasier Park! Located off of Shaw Road it has a basketball court, covered staging area, picnic tables and lots of open space for your pup to run around! Y’all can also rent the pavilion for your dog-o’s birthday. Contact the Walthourville Police Department by phone at 912.368.7501 for booking information!

Please be mindful when you #ExploreLiberty and visit any of these spots and clean up after yourself and your pet. We want these places to be kept in good shape for others who want to enjoy them after you!
