Getting to Know Desiree Riley, Office Administrator
We think it’s important to know who your Chamber & CVB staff is, their expertise, their experience and who they are. This series of blogs will focus on our staff so you can get a better understanding of who you’re chatting with on the phone, meeting at a luncheon or networking with at Business After Hours.
Desiree is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a master’s degree in English. Before moving to Allenhurst, she spent about 4 years teaching a first-year writing course at the university. In August 2020, Desiree began working at the Chamber as a Program Coordinator. Then in November 2020 she was moved to her current position as Office Administrator.
A day in the life with Desiree involves a plethora of tasks. She maintains our internal calendar, compiles the Liberty Pulse, creates the weekly updates for our members, as well as organizing Leadership Liberty and Young Adult Liberty Leaders just to name a few. She has become our mailing guru for the office and now knows more about postage than ever before. You might also often hear her referred to as our “phone ninja” because of her super quick and efficient phone answering skills.
When asked about her favorite part of her position she said, “I truly love getting to meet all of our members. It is so cool to form relationships with all different kinds of community leaders.” So next time you see her at an event, be sure to say hello!
Outside of work, Desiree loves to enjoy a Wake Shake at Brickwall Café. She also loves to stroll around downtown Hinesville and pop her head in at Martin Mercantile to check out all the handmade goodies. From eating lunch at Zum Rosenhof to just sitting reading a book in Bradwell Park, downtown Hinesville is her go-to spot.
“My favorite thing about Liberty County is that there truly is something for everyone. Whether you want to go kayaking, tour a museum or hang out at Fang’s Island arcade there is just such a variety of options that you can’t be bored. There is tons of diversity in all of our food options; we have barbeque, kabobs, Thai, Jamaican, German and the list goes on and on.”
If you are looking for a scary show recommendation Desiree is your girl. She just finished watching The Haunting of Hill House and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Desiree is a vital part of our team, and we are so appreciative of her hard work every day! We are looking forward to her one-year anniversary with the Chamber soon!
