Here are my Top 16 Reasons I Can’t Wait for Spring!
Yeah, it still feels a little winter-like, at least for South Georgia, however, Spring is coming and coming soon! Woohoo! The Spring Equinox is on March 20 so to hasten the arrival I’m counting down the 16 signs that winter, such as it is, is ending!
- Baseball
The Braves season opener is on Monday, April 4th. It’ll be their last year in Turner Field, and we’ll be there! And before that glorious day there’s tons of baseball spring training to ooh and ahh over!
- Sunlight
The days are already getting longer! Love that we don’t leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark. It’s the little things that mean the most!
- Good riddance to seasonal drinks
As a non-coffee drinker anyway, I will for one be super happy to not see another ad for a gingerbread or pumpkin anything until next fall!
- Spring Break
Need I say more!
- Sales
The perfect time of year when jackets AND swimsuits are cheap!
- Outlander is coming back!
While not officially coming out until May, I have begun to see the actual season trailers on real tv, and I’m not having to stalk my favorite characters to get spoiler alerts.
- Cabin Fever will end
Another two months of winter and folks here might rebel and move to Florida! We don’t DO cold in South Georgia!
- Dwindling flu
Which means raging allergies are soon to come, but hey, that’s life!
- No more Christmas lights
Except for the few who leave them up year round, all the lights should be gone, and you can go back to blinking & living in normal colored hues.
- See ya later New Year’s Resolutions
People have given up on their New Year’s Resolutions by this point so we can stop seeing their epic wins and failures across social media!
- Taxes
Not everything is the Spring is fun. Refer to allergies above.
- Socialization
Without having to huddle in your home you can actually get out and do backyard bbqs and such with neighbors. Bonus: Your co-workers get a break from your weekend woes!
- Peeps
While not a big fan of these marshallow-y treats, I am a fan of other Easter candy. Can you say JELLY BEANS! And Cadbury Eggs!
- Clothes
My warm, fuzzy, heavy Carhart can find its way to the closet and stay there! BTW, it’s purple!
- 5Ks
And the running season begins! While I am not an avid runner, I like 5Ks and especially the beer you get at the end, just sayin’. Susan G Komen Run, here I come!
- Festivals
All of the area events and festivals that are so much fun in the Spring! When you can enjoy them without melting or turning into a popsicle!
