Leadership Liberty Accepting Class Nominations
The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce will be accepting nominations for the 2014-15 class of Leadership Liberty.
Going into its eleventh year, Leadership Liberty will allow class participants to take an eight-month class, which will meet at least once per month. They will learn about county government, city government, public health, education, tourism, economic development and much more.
The Leadership Liberty class began in 2004 and has graduated over 100 participants who either reside or work in Liberty County. It has also allowed participants to take part in the leadership modules provided by the Fanning Institute of Leadership at the University of Georgia.
This group travels to Atlanta to observe state government to see how it operates and can also meet with elected leaders. The cost of the program is $650, which includes overnight accommodation, food and transportation to the capital as well as other expenditures needed for each session.
“Leadership Liberty has changed my perspective of Liberty County and provided great insight to the interconnectivity of local government entities, economic development, education, military and health aspects that are vital to a successful community”, said Amanda Scott from the Class of 2014. “I’m proud to live in a county that is enthusiastic about the future and creating an exceptional environment for its residents. I’ve also greatly enjoyed learning about my classmates and seeing the positive impact they make to the community every day.”
