Cay Creek offers a great boardwalk through the freshwater wetlands where you are bound to see numerous birds, reptiles, amphibians and a diverse variety of vegetation. The Historic Baptismal Trail is another excellent choice to get outside and learn a bit about the history of the Geechee community.
Go Play
With school back in full swing, it is so important to get those kiddos outside and moving. The playground at Bryant Commons is a great spot to let them run out pent up energy. Or head on over to James Brown Park for a nice shaded walking trail and plenty of fields to run and play.
Show your yard some TLC
It is time to get those fall veggies growin’ and freshen up your landscaping! Liberty County has quite a few places to grab new seeds or some new plants for a little yard refresh. HLH & Co Nursery, Lowes, Harris Ace Hardware and Dawson’s General Store are some go-to’s for all your landscaping needs. For those who don’t have a green thumb, they are sure to give you all the tips and tricks to help you succeed; or you can just check out the downtown Hinesville Farmers Market on Thursday nights where the farmers have done the work for ya!
Then as the temperatures cool off in the evenings unwind around a bonfire, watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy all the hard work you put into your yard.
Hop on a boat or kayak
We are lucky that through our fall season it is still warm enough to get out on the water. Be sure to bring an extra layer to throw on just in case! If you don’t know where to drop your kayak in, check out our guide to kayaking for all the tips.

Snap Insta-worthy Pics
Get your creative juices flowing to take advantage of Liberty County’s picture-perfect locations to snap fall pictures. Barrington Ferry, Cay Creek Rd and Old Sunbury Rd are just a couple spots that make for some epic Instagram shots that will have your followers wondering how they can recreate your photo. The Bacon Fraser House is another prime photo location. The plantation plain style house and large Live Oak trees draped with Spanish moss make for a beautiful backdrop.

Cemetery Tours
What better time to go check out some of our historic local cemeteries than during spooky season? The Midway Museum’s annual cemetery tour featuring costumed historical figures is happening on October 23rd. Click here to book tickets.
The Sunbury Cemetery is also a cool one to visit, as it is the final resting place for some of coastal Georgia’s first residents. Keep your eyes peeled for any ghost activity!
