Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening for KT’s Kupkakes & Kandii and KMP Studio
KMP Studio and KT’s Kupkakes and Kandii held a joint ribbon cutting and grand opening in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce on March 28 at their location on 445 E.G. Miles Parkway in Hinesville.
Key Gilbert, owner of KMP Studio and Katamara Frasier, owner of KT’s Kupkakes and Kandii welcomed staff, family, friends and Chamber staff to the event.
Brandy Simon, Membership Director for the Chamber of Commerce offered the businesses a welcome to Chamber membership and explained that the Chamber encourages people to shop local and buy local which helps support businesses such as theirs.
Gilbert and Frasier thanked those who attended for supporting their businesses.
KMP Studio offers photography for all occasions. They provide event photography for occasions such as weddings and in-studio appointments for children, families and individual portraits.
Gilbert said that she began taking photos at age five when her grandmother gave her a Polaroid camera. She moved to Georgia in 2008 and decided to start her own studio.
“I like the editing process and I enjoy the finished product of photography,” Gilbert said. “I took AP Art and then rolled that knowledge over to photography.”
KT’s Kupkakes and Kandii has about 20 different flavors of cupcakes, with praline being the top seller and 10 different flavors of candy apples.
Frasier said that she started making candy apples to sell as a fundraiser for her son’s high school band.
Frasier explained the band was selling sheet sets as a fundraiser and when it didn’t work out, she began making and selling the candy apples to compensate. She later incorporated cupcakes into her repertoire.
“I like experimenting with different flavor combinations,” said Frasier. “It’s my creative outlet.”
Frasier and Gilbert met through Facebook due to their participation as coaches with the Georgia Cyclones Cheerleaders. Their friendship was the springboard for their business partnership.
Gilbert already had a business plan and had wanted to open a photography studio for some time. With Gilbert doing event photography and Frasier making confections, it seemed a natural progression to collaborate professionally. Frasier and Gilbert partnered to make a “one-stop shop” for events. They work with caterers, DJs and other businesses to keep the cost low for their customers.
