Safecation Guide to Liberty County

Liberty County is your destination to escape from a stressful work week or a simple weekend getaway with your family. Due to CVOID-19, many destinations have changed the way that patrons enjoy attractions. In Liberty County, we have taken precautions to make safety our top priority, followed by loads of fun. Here is a Safecation Guide to Liberty County.

Safely visit tourist favorites

Liberty County is known for its rich history and beautiful coast. Our museums and fun centers are open with COVID-19 regulations in place. You can still visit the Midway Museum and the Dorchester Academy Museum while wearing a mask. Sanitizing stations have been placed at all of our sites to ensure a clean and germ-free visit. All are limiting the sizes of tour groups and advance reservations are recommended. After a day at the museum, head over to Jumpin’ Jacks to spend the rest of your day having fun, eating pizza, jumping in bounce houses or playing a few arcade games.

Get outside

While you’re here, be sure to check out a few of our outdoor attractions and recreational areas. Take a walk down the Historic Baptismal Trail in Riceboro, where the Gullah Geechee baptized people into Christianity. You can also take a stroll or a quiet bike ride at James Brown Park around the one-mile trail that surrounds the park. If you want to take in some Liberty County history but from the comfort of your own car, we have the Flemington self-guided driving tour for just that. Enjoy one of the county’s oldest cities from the comfort of your car.

Work remotely

Let’s face it, working from home or learning virtually can drive anyone a little stir-crazy. When you start to feel like the walls are closing in, switch things up and take your work outside!

Fuel a study session with a wake shake while you work from the Brickwall Café or breathe in the fresh air while you take a call at Bryant Commons Park. The Live Oak Library is also open to patrons wearing a mask and social distancing. Choose from one of their meeting rooms or find a quiet table to complete your work.

Dine-in or Take Out

Liberty County has a solution for all taste buds. Enjoy tacos & margaritas from Rodeo, jaeger schnitzel from Zum Rosenhof, or some good old fried chicken & mashed potatoes from Izola’s. Liberty County has an array of cultured cuisines that we’re eager to show visitors. You have the option of dining in or taking your food to go at all of the restaurants.

Once your day is complete head over to one of our local hotels for a good night’s sleep. If you brought your fur baby, the LaQuinta Inns & Suites will welcome you with open arms.
