Sparrow Communications Business Story

The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce has close to 500 AMAZING members. From restaurateurs to retailers and everything in between. They add a great amount of value to Liberty County and the surrounding area. Each member brings something special to our chamber family, and we want to take time to highlight our members by telling their business story. This week we want to highlight Sparrow Communications.

Who are you and what is your business?

“I’m Krystal Hart and the name of my business is Sparrow Communications. We focus on public relations and copy writing for nonprofits and government entities. For small businesses l have programs customized for you and your specific needs.”

What made you start your business?

Krystal said that when she decided to start her own business in 2014, she had two children under two and working for herself allowed for flexibility. She was also able to earn more without being tied to a pay scale. “I understand the nuances of being a minority business from the perspective of being black and a woman,” said Krystal.

What brought you to Liberty County?

Krystal is a Liberty County native born and raised… “I am from Sunbury, Ga (the east end of the county), not to be confused with Midway,” she chuckled. She also shared that it was her high school government teacher at Liberty County High School, Ralph Ethridge, that ignited her passion to learn more about government and how it works. It was those seeds that were planted that inspired her to find a way to bridge the gap between the general public and the government.

What’s an interesting fact about your business that most people don’t know?

“Only 20% of what I do is plan and speak at events, the majority of what I do is to research and strategize solutions. I would come to a client, and they think they have one issue that they’ve figured out already. I research and possibly discover the issue is actually communication or sometimes operations.”

Do you have any advice for new business owners?

“Create a plan, there are three things you need for a business. You need to make sure it is legal, impactful & profitable. Whatever dream, desire, wild thought or idea you have, just take the leap. The market is wide open.”

When you’re not working, where in Liberty Country do you like to spend your time?

“Mostly on the east end hanging with my family. I love to visit Melody’s Coastal Café and the Sunbury Crab Company. I also like to just disconnect from technology and relax.”

What made you join the Chamber? What value have you gotten out of your Chamber membership?

“I joined the Chamber because they are a great resource for connecting to community. The Chamber is like a clearinghouse for everything social & political so you can stay in the know. It also made me proud of how responsive the Chamber was during COVID and made me want to continue to be a member.

I feel like they do a great job of keeping me abreast of what’s going on and needed through their PTP luncheons, and keeping me aware of new businesses that may need support. I don’t have to look its pretty much spoon fed to me.”

Where can we reach you to utilize your service/shop with you?
