These are a few of our favorite foods!
The South is all about food, it’s no secret. If we can’t fry it we probably won’t try it lol! Kidding, well sorta. We thought we’d compile a list of some of our favs locally, along with pics if we had ‘em and encourage you to eat local & try something new!

Parmesan Garlic Fried Shrimp Tacos
Seriously, these things are amazing! You can get the shrimp grilled or fried, but we say go big or go home! The Sunbury Crab Company features these beauties which come with onion, cilantro, a lime wedge and sour cream. You can pick a sauce, but we think this one takes the cake & you get a side, so if you’re feeling a little guilty for the fried shrimp you can add a salad!
-
Turkey Panini
This lunchtime yummy from Island Café is chock full of amazing flavors! With house made aioli and fresh veggies you’ll be full until breakfast the next day! And also to its benefit, you’ll get to chat with Mary (the owner) while it’s being made!
-
Jerk chicken & peas and rice
Another one of those lunchtime stops, Good to Go Jamaican has flavors straight from the Caribbean. And you might get to meet Dwayne (the owner), this is one man who can cook, but he tells a mean story too!
-
Pancakes and Bacon
Cause who doesn’t love a plate full of pancakes & bacon on a Saturday morning? Ms. Angie at Angie’s Diner in Midway serves up some of the biggest flapjacks we’ve ever seen! Seriously they’re as big as your head, light, fluffy and always hot! This southern diner offers a full breakfast service and bar, as well as a lunch service and bar.
-
Bleu Cheese Burger
We love this burger made by the Pour House. They not only pile on the bleu cheese they make sure that you have lots of yummy bacon as well! Get it cooked to suit you and enjoy your lunch while watching the latest ball game or news in this spot that locals love!
-
Fajita Bowl
Rodeo Mexican Restaurant has amazingly fresh items and one that we love is the fajita bowl. Chock full of lettuce, rice, cilantro, chicken (or beef), tomatoes, olives, sautéed veggies, guacamole, cheese & sour cream! Just YUMMY! Definitely a lunchtime staple!
-
BBQ Pizza
If you haven’t tried the bbq pizza from Stoners yet you’re missing out! They don’t open until 3pm so if you can hold out that long for lunch it’s definitely worth it. If you find yourself way too hungry before then we suggest eating a small salad and waiting! Or order one for the next day to reheat or take it home for dinner.

And Then…..
Izola’s y’all is off the chain yummy! This Southern soul food staple is meant to be enjoyed before nap time (they do have some lighter choices, but you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life, live it up!). Fried chicken, fried pork chops, meatloaf, chicken & dumplings, mac & cheese, greens, rice & gravy, and on and on and on. Just call in with a food coma, the boss will understand!
