Celebrate Independence Day in Liberty County: Complete Guide
Photo Credit: Fort Morris State Historic Site
Independence Day holds a special place in the hearts of many residents of Liberty County. Not only is Fort Stewart located here, but our community (then St. John’s Parish) was also the first to declare independence from Great Britain. We also played an integral part in the Revolutionary War at Fort Morris. Colonel John McIntosh and 200 brave patriots stood their ground and successfully fended off the first wave of British invaders. In this blog, we are sharing some ways you can celebrate America’s victory in the War of 1812 here in Liberty County.
Things to do
- Fort Morris State Historic Site – Saturday, July 5th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm, Fort Morris will host an Independence Day at Colonial Sunbury event. Join them as they celebrate our nation’s independence with live musket and cannon-firing demonstrations. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of old-fashioned toys and games.
- AM Entertainment and Event Services – Saturday, July 5th, from 4pm to 8pm, will host the 2nd Annual 912 Southern Blues Festival.
