On behalf of the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, Colonel Manuel F. Ramirez, I cordially invite you to join us for the semiannual Fort Stewart Historic Communities Council meeting and Fall Cemetery visit, Nov. 4, 2021.

During this visit, we will see Todd Ray, Warnell, Salem, Z.R. Moody and Jerusalem cemeteries and historic sites.

We will eat lunch at Jerusalem.  Lunch will be catered by Bojangles’ at the site.  The lunch cost is $6.50.  We can only accept cash.  Please use exact change.

Participants should meet us at the Liberty Independent Troop Park/Stafford Pavilion located on Hwy. 84 behind the Liberty County Recreation Dept. Office at 609 Oglethorpe Hwy., in Hinesville, beginning at 7:30 a.m.  The tour starts at 8:15 a.m.

The installation’s Directorate of Public Works, Environmental, Cultural Resource Management subject matter expert will be on hand to provide information about the cemeteries.

The installation will also comply with COVID-19 mitigation measures in accordance with CDC guidelines and the Dept. of Defense mandate to continuously wear masks on post.  Individuals must wear masks continuously on military installations except:

  1. When an individual is alone in an office with floor-to-ceiling walls with a closed-door;
  2. For brief periods of time when eating and drinking while maintaining distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines and instructions from commander and supervisors;
  3. When the mask is required to be lowered briefly for identification or security purposes; and
  4. When necessary to reasonably accommodate an individual with a disability.

This will be a physically demanding tour.  Please do not attempt if you are not physically able to walk, board a bus with little help, and navigate uneven terrain. Dress comfortably, preferably in layers, with comfortable shoes, and a hat or other sun protection. Bottled water and insect repellent are also suggested.  For your convenience, comfort stations will be located throughout the tour.
