Things To Do With Your Furry Friends

In Liberty County, we have tons to do with your pets. Whether you want to explore one of our trails or relax in one of our coastal parks, we have everything for you.

Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center is an excellent example of tidal, freshwater wetlands, which provides a unique opportunity for education and appreciation. You and the doggie can walk the boardwalk and learn about the plants and animals that live there from the interpretive signage. Take lots of pictures because this spot is gorgeous!

Located in the heart of Hinesville, Bryant Commons Park has something to offer for everyone. It is on 150 acres and features an outdoor amphitheater, Cisco’s Dog Park, Brambles Playground, the ITPA Museum and a sizeable catch-and-release pond to fish in. This park has the perfect loop to walk with friends and family. Take a breather while watching the sunset through the beautiful oak trees surrounding the property. Cisco’s Dog Park offers a big and small dog side where off-leash play is allowed, so your furry friend can stretch their legs!

  • Jones Creek Park

Jones Creek Park in Midway offers a quiet and scenic spot near the water. Located on the east end of Liberty County, it’s the perfect place to catch a beautiful sunset over the water. If you’re lucky, you might spot a dolphin or two while you stroll around! Throw a ball for your four-legged friend while you enjoy the weather and the coastal breeze.

Explore Liberty County’s History

Don’t feel like you have to miss out on the history Liberty County holds while visiting! Check these locations and bring your furry friend along for the adventure!

  • Historic Baptismal Trail

The Historic Baptismal Trail is one of our favorite sites because it’s peaceful and packed with history! When you visit, you’ll learn how it was an active holy place for over 100 years. Members of the Gullah Geechee community were once baptized in the creek that remains. Learn more about the site’s significance from the signage along the trail while your doggo chases the various creatures who call it home! The tour is self-guided so that you can spend as much time here as possible. For more information, contact the City of Riceboro at (912) 884-2986.

  • Fort Morris

Located along our Intracoastal waterways, Fort Morris State Historic Site has views of the St. Catherines Sound, nature trails and history forged from the earth. It is Georgia’s only Revolutionary historic site where the original earthworks remain. The mounds have been preserved for over 200 years, so be sure not to walk on them as you stroll along! Fort Morris only allows leashed pets.

Looking for a way that both of you can unwind? Take a drive down one of our many dirt roads. This is an activity that both of you will enjoy! One of our favorite spots to cruise along is Old Sunbury Road. Head east on Hwy 84, cross over I-95, and you will make a left onto Old Sunbury Road.

We know you and your dog will enjoy visiting these places together in the sun! We ask that you be mindful whenever you #ExploreLiberty and help keep our community clean and safe. Ensure you have some doggy bags and a leash when adventuring! While visiting, remember to tag us in your photos with #ExploreLiberty!
