What is the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce

For the last 46 years, the Chamber has served its community and the many local business that make it up. We do this by promoting & highlighting our 500 plus members. We also take an active role by organizing some of your local favorite events such as the Bi-Annual Food Truck Festivals & the Annual Illuminated Christmas Parade. In this blog we are going to explain what the chamber is and what it is that we do.

 

Our History

We were established in 1976, and our mission is to support new & existing business, trade and industry within Liberty County. We do this while increasing the cultural, civic, educational and overall quality of life of its citizens. We’re a Georgia Certified Chamber of Commerce, and we’re committed to the local & small businesses that allow our county to thrive. From the passionate folks behind the counter, to the ones who make sure your city keeps running! Our Chamber helps create a positive and healthy economic climate and better way of life for all Liberty residents.

 

The Pear in the Chamber Logo

Liberty County became famous thanks to the LeConte pear in the 1800s. Pears were shipped from Liberty County to northern states each fall. John Eatton LeConte brought the pear to Liberty County and gave the pear tree seedling to his daughter who was living on the Woodmanston lands in Riceboro. The LeConte pear contributed to the growth of the Southern pear industry during the 1870s. John LeConte went on to establish the first state botanical garden on the same Woodmanston land. Now, the LeConte pear represents the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce as a symbol of economic development and our commitment to economic prosperity.

We are a 7C Chamber recognized state-wide for our passion and success in helping small and local businesses. In 2019, we were one of ten Chambers in the state to be awarded the Georgia Certified Chamber designation, recognized for our strong leadership and expertise in business. We help businesses in a variety of ways from networking to marketing, and our members are leaders in an array of industries. Our business community is the foundation of Liberty County & the Chamber is proud to support their needs and our community.

 

What does it mean to be a 7C Chamber?

As a Chamber, our priority is serving the business community and the county at large. To that end, we are passionate about our mission of being a 7C Chamber, but what does it mean to be 7C? Simply put, it’s a promise. We are:
