4 Great Spots for Spring Kayaking in Liberty County

The weather is getting warmer, and we are breaking out the sunscreen as springtime shines here in Liberty County. 1. Jones Creek Park

Pack lunch, sunscreen and ice-cold drinks when heading to Jones Creek Park. This beautiful location is surrounded by nature, and access to the water is easy. Whether you have little kayaking experience or are a seasoned pro, you’ll enjoy putting in and paddling around. Get here early and enjoy the magic of a Liberty County sunrise. At the right time, you can even see dolphins! It’s a local favorite, and it’s no surprise you can easily spend hours here while visiting.

2. Sunbury Boat Ramp

The public dock in Sunbury is another favorite spot to enjoy coastal views and to go fishing. It has direct access to the Intracoastal waterway and easy access to launch your kayak. Kayaking at this spot allows you to venture through the marsh, relax in the sun and see a school of dolphins or some of Liberty County’s wide variety of birds! 3. Riceboro Dock

Located in Riceboro, you’ll find a boat ramp and a large fishing pier. It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the find, perfect for fishing, relaxing and putting in your kayak. You’ll be able to enjoy the day paddling on the water and catch some delicious fish for dinner. Wear sunscreen when enjoying your day here, and we suggest you bring a hat and some cold drinks! 4. Half Moon Marina

You’ll find Eve Park in a quiet spot at Halfmoon Marina on Colonels Island. It’s a great spot to spend the day kayaking and soaking up the sun. The marina has a dock space and a boat lift available. If you go early, you can catch a glimpse of one of Liberty County’s famous sunrises. If you feel so inclined, pack your fishing pole, sit on the dock after you are done paddling around and cast your line.

Liberty County has the most marsh front compared to any other coastal Georgia county, and we are always excited to take advantage of the views.
