The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce has close to 500 AMAZING members. From restaurateurs to retailers and everything in between. Each member brings something special to our Chamber family, and we want to take time to highlight our members by telling their business stories. We had one of our program coordinators meet with Blue Ribbon Inspections.
Who are you and what is your business?
“My name is Maurey Smith Sr. and I am the owner of Blue Ribbon Inspections, a certified property inspection company based in Hinesville,” said Smith.

What made you start Blue Ribbon Inspections?
Smith was looking for an opportunity to work for himself and by becoming an entrepreneur he was able to make more time for his family and still make money in the process.
“I really enjoy helping people understand their home and how the systems work together,” said Smith.
What brought you to Liberty County?
“I have actually lived in Hinesville a few times over the last 20+ years. I joined the Army in 1999, and Ft. Stewart was my first duty station. I left in 2002 and came back in 2013 for a second tour at Ft. Stewart. I left the Army in 2016 and moved to South Carolina for a couple of years. Somehow, I keep ending up back here in Hinesville. I moved back in 2018 and started my company in October of 2022,” said Smith.
Do you have any advice for new business owners?

“One great decision I made was to join the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce. I have been able to network with so many great businesses in the last year, from newcomers like myself to seasoned business owners with tons of valuable insight into running a successful business,” said Smith.
What made you join the Chamber? What value have you gotten out of your Chamber membership?
“I needed some promotional work done and wanted to keep my dollars local so I made a visit to VIP Promotional to get some hats and shirts embroidered with my logo. Lillian Gray took great care of me. She mentioned she was on the Chamber board, and I joined almost immediately. Lillian is a great person with a wealth of knowledge. In my first week of membership, I was able to attend a Business After Hours event put on by the Chamber and Leigh Smiley, the owner of Coldwell Banker Southern Coast. That event and the connections I made were invaluable to me in my first year of entrepreneurship and I can’t thank Leigh enough for the introductions she made,” said Smith.
