Georgia Cities Week in Liberty County
Cities by design provide a more elevated level of service than most governments. They are generally more well-liked by the public than any other level of government. However, many people are unaware of how city services impact their lives. Statewide campaigns such as Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and other related organizations, hope to inform the public of city government’s role in improving the quality of life throughout various communities. GMA’s Georgia Cities Week is part of an ongoing effort to raise public awareness about the services that cities perform & to educate the public on how city government works. Cities are encouraged to involve their local schools, businesses, legislators, Chambers of Commerce, media and civic clubs in planning Georgia Cities Week activities.
What is the purpose?
Going into its 24th year, Georgia Cities Week is also an opportunity to celebrate community achievements and recognize volunteers and city employees. This week also gives cities the opportunity to:
- Share information about the valuable services cities provide to residents, including an inside look into city operations & how cities positively impact their quality of life.
- Highlight successful community projects & infrastructure enhancements.
- Connect residents with one another.
- Build and improve working relationships with city leaders.
