Here in Liberty County a popular local pastime is golf! This fall Liberty County has no shortage of golf related events for you to enjoy. Whether you are new to the course or scrambling because you heard someone yell “FORE” we have created a guide to help you navigate events this season!

Taylors Creek Golf Course

Taylor's Creek Golf Course

Located on Fort Stewart this course is now open to the general public! With an 18-hole course which was designed by soldiers of the 69th Engineer Battalion after their tour in Vietnam, proceeds are reinvested into local soldier & family programming on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.

They also offer foot golf which is much easier than real golf, in foot golf you kick a soccer ball into a 21-inch diameter cup in as few shots as possible. The sport uses golf’s basic model including tee boxes, greens, bunkers and hazards. Scorecards display par scores for each hole, just like regular golf. For more information about Taylors Creek Golf Course check out their website here. You can always stop by the course located on Gulick Ave, Fort Stewart.

Cherokee Rose Country ClubCherokee Rose Country Club

Located in Hinesville this semi private course was opened in 1971 and designed by its local members. It is an 18-hole golf course. The course is measured at 6101 yards from the longest tee and has a slope rating of 125 and a 69.4 USGA rating.

It features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels and there are no tee times needed. In June they had a ribbon cutting for their newly renovated Pro Shop where you can find all of your golf essentials from balls & clubs to clothing items and more. Be sure to follow them on Facebook for all their latest events and updates here. You can visit the course at 225 Cherokee Trail, Hinesville.

James A. Brown Park

While James Brown Park does not have traditional golfing, they do offer a disc golf course. Disc golf, better known as frisbee golf, is a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target. The rules are very similar to regular golf.  If you’ve walked the nature trail at James Brown Park you may have noticed the oddly shaped cones with metal rings around them. They’re actually a part of a nine-hole frisbee golf course. The course wraps around the length of the trail and consists of par 3, 4 and 5 holes. It’s open to the public from dawn to dusk and is free to use. Check out the disc golf course at 800 Tupelo Trail, Hinesville.
