Where to swim in Liberty County
Summer is right around the corner and there is no better way to cool off from the South Georgia heat than by taking a dip in a swimming pool! Even if you don’t have access to a personal pool, you can still beat the heat at one of the public pools located around Liberty County. So, grab your bathing suits and floaties and check out some local spots to cool off from the summer heat.
Liberty County Recreation Department Pools

Our local recreation department has two pool locations for public convenience: Hinesville and Midway. Both locations will be open from May 27th thorough July 30th from 2pm-6pm and admission is only $3 per person! They even offer season passes: $50 for an individual or $75 for a family pass, which can include up to six family members. If you plan spending most of your days by the pool, then reach out to the LCRD for more information on how to purchase a pass.
Hinesville Pool
- Location: Liberty County Rec Department, 607 E Oglethorpe Hwy
- Features: This pool has a shaded area with tables and chairs for the parents to relax while the kiddos play.
- Safety: There are on-duty lifeguards to make sure everyone is safe while having fun.
- Amenities: You’ll see a playground located behind the pool area so the kids can continue the fun even when swim time is over.
- The LCRD also has Family Night for an evening of swim every Monday & Wednesday from 7pm-9pm. During this time, the pool is open for families only (no individuals).
Midway Pool
- Location: Community Complex Center, 9397 E Oglethorpe Hwy. Across the parking lot from the Midway Public Library
- Safety: There are on-duty lifeguards to make sure everyone is safe while having fun.
- Amenities: You’ll see a playground located in front of the pool area so the kids can continue the fun even when swim time is over.
- This location also features a Family Night: Every Tuesday & Thursday from 7pm-9 pm. During this time, the pool is open for families only (no individuals).
The Liberty County YMCA Pool
Our local YMCA has many different amenities for the family to enjoy, such as a gym, racket ball rooms, basketball court and—of course—a pool! They are also currently offering summer pool passes that will allow access to all of their pools & splashpads. They even offer various water aerobics classes and activities.
- Amenities: While the kids play in the pool, the adults can relax in the hot tub and soak away their stress.
- Safety: The YMCA has various sizes of float vest to keep the kiddos safe that you can borrow for FREE.
- Features: The YMCA has an indoor pool, which means it’s open year-round and even on rainy days.
