Tell a Member’s Business Story – Delectable Fruits & Delectable Scoops

The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce has close to 500 AMAZING members. From restaurateurs to retailers and everything in between. They add a great amount of value to Liberty County and the surrounding area. Each member brings something special to our chamber family, and we want to take time to highlight our members by telling their business stories. Today we sat down with Delectable Fruits & Delectable Scoops.

Who are you and what is your member business?

 We’re Mike Narvaez & Gladys Romero, and we’re the owners of Delectable Fruits. Serving the Hinesville, area we provide great-tasting edible bouquets and boxes that are prepared fresh daily with the highest quality of ingredients. We also offer snow cones, ice cream sandwiches, smoothies and more! We have been here for 7 years and look forward to many more.

What made you start your business?

 My wife grew up in a bakery in South America, learning all things chocolate and flowers. When we moved here, we saw there was not a business like this that was local, so we wanted to fill that need. Between her experience in that type of industry and my experience in business and customer service, it made sense to us. Together we come up with the fruit arrangements, our newest arrangement is in honor of Mother’s Day.

What’s an interesting fact about your business that most people don’t know?

 Besides our fruit baskets, we also make our soft serve, we sell hand-dipped ice cream, milkshakes, flan, fresh smoothies & more. Our smoothies are made fresh to order without preservatives and our dessert syrups and cookies for our ice cream sandwiches are made by hand! One thing we started trying lately, which is popular in my country, is a fruit salad; which typically has ice cream, fresh fruit, dessert toppings and cheese. Do you have any advice for new business owners?

 Have fun while you’re working and embrace the community! We put our heart and soul into everything we do here! Work hard and never give up on your dreams.

When you’re not working, where in Liberty County do you like to spend your time?

 We are very family-oriented, so when we’re not at work we are usually enjoying parks or restaurants with our family. Mike said that he enjoys playing pool at Doodles with his son. You can read more about Doodles in our blog the A-to-Z Liberty County Visitor’s Guide.

What made you join the Chamber? What value have you gotten out of your Chamber membership?  

 We decided to join the Chamber after many other business owners gave us that recommendation. We love that the Chamber is like a family, they are very family and community-oriented. My wife and I like the networking opportunities we have had. Being a Chamber member makes us feel like we have more responsibility to the community, like we are all a big family!
