Young Adult Liberty Leaders: Fostering the Next Generation

Every year, the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce organizes the Young Adult Liberty Leaders program, also known as YALL. This exciting initiative gives local high school juniors and seniors the chance to dive into the heart of Liberty County and discover how everything operates behind the scenes. Now entering its 17th year, the program continues to be an awesome, engaging experience for young adults in the community.

What is YALL?

YALL is a dynamic 9-month program that’s anything but boring. Each month, students will explore different parts of the community, from county and city government to public health, public education, tourism, economic development, and so much more. They’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how all the puzzle pieces fit together to keep our community thriving. Plus, they learn how to utilize concepts such as community collaboration and effective communication within a leadership role.

Why Should You Join YALL?

Our goal is to see our local students grow into strong leaders who will help shape the future of our county, region, and state. We want a diverse group of students who reflect the amazing diversity of Liberty County. If you meet the criteria, don’t hesitate to apply. However, the selection process is competitive. We’re looking for the best and brightest future leaders. Applications are open now, and the application deadline is August 16, 2024. Remember, all applicants must undergo a panel interview before making final selections.

• Opportunities for community giveback: An important part of building tomorrow’s leaders is providing ways to give back to your community through volunteering.

What Will You Do in YALL?

During the 9-month program, you’ll meet once a month to dive deep into different community functions. You’re also expected to complete at least 6 volunteer hours per semester at our approved events. This hands-on experience is invaluable and helps you put what you learn into practice.

Who Can Apply?

If you’re a high school junior or senior at Bradwell Institute, Liberty County High, or First Preparatory Christian Academy, this is for you! We’re looking for students who are ready to grow their understanding of how Liberty County works and how to play a part in its future.

How Much Does It Cost?

Here’s the best part: tuition for YALL is completely FREE! That includes everything from orientation to graduation. Since the program’s inception, many students have graduated and done amazing things such as starting their own business. You’ll gain insights from various community leaders and participate in leadership modules provided by the Fanning Institute of Leadership at the University of Georgia.
