- Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center has a great boardwalk that is 7/10ths of a mile! The path takes you through freshwater wetlands where you are bound to see numerous birds, reptiles, amphibians and a diverse variety of vegetation. Climb the lookout tower for a better view of the beauty!
- The Historic Baptismal Trailis another excellent place to get outdoors and explore. Learn a bit about the history of the Gullah Geechee community and the site which was an active holy place for over 100 years! The tour is self-guided and has signage along the way.

3) Hop on a Boat or Kayak
One of our favorite year-round activities is hopping on a boat or in a kayak! The fall season is no exception to that. 4) Snap Insta-Worthy Pics
Get your creative juices flowing to take advantage of Liberty County’s picture-perfect locations to snap fall pictures. We think that one of Liberty County’s best attributes are the beautiful views that Mother Nature paints in the sky each morning and evening – weather permitting. People often ask where they can see the best sunsets and sunrises, so we made a list of 6 of our favorite spots! Check them out and choose a spot by clicking here.
7) Visit One of Our Many Cemeteries

What better time to go check out some of our local, historic cemeteries than during spooky season? The Midway Museum hosts a cemetery tour featuring costumed historical figures each year around Halloween! The 2023 tour is already sold out, but you can still visit the cemetery and explore on your own time.
The Sunbury Cemetery is also a cool one to visit, as it is the final resting place for some of coastal Georgia’s first residents. Keep your eyes peeled for any ghost activity!
Fall in Liberty County is simply the best. We encourage you to get outside and #ExploreLiberty. Our upcoming fall events are ones you won’t want to miss, so be sure to check out our community calendar to stay in the loop on what is going on around Liberty County.
