Places to Ride Your Bike in Liberty County

Winter has arrived in Liberty County, and we are so excited! With the change in the weather, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a hot cup of cocoa or cider while counting the days until you get back into the sun. We suggest that you enjoy the frost-covered sites by taking a ride along one of our biking trails! According to the local weather forecast, it looks like the cooler weather is going to be here for a while. You’re going to want to stretch your legs and get some fresh air after a long day in the office! Each one of these biking trails are an easy ride and on the shorter side. This means they are great for your entire family. They offer peaceful scenery and an up-close look at our coastal surroundings! Check out this list of places to take your bike and get ready to enjoy Liberty County in a new way.

Fort Morris State Historic Site

This historic site is well known for its connection to the Revolutionary War and the forgotten town of Sunbury. In addition to its historic significance, Fort Morris also has a fantastic nature trail. Ride among the original earthworks that once provided security for soldiers defending what would one day be Liberty County. Along this trail, you’ll have a view of the St. Catherines Island sound. This beautiful view is one with almost no change in the last 100 years. Fort Morris is also a stop along the Colonial Coast Birding Trail, so keep your eyes open for hummingbirds, buntings, woodpeckers and more!

Pro Tip: If you get hungry after cycling around Fort Morris, we suggest grabbing a bite to eat at the Sunbury Crab Company! Their fresh seafood is delicious and the coastal views are amazing.

James Brown Park

Located in Hinesville on Patriots Trail is James A Brown Park. In addition to its many outdoor sporting activities, the park has a 1-mile cycling trail that takes you along a route with the perfect view of all the action. Embrace the changing colors of the leaves and enjoy the breeze with a ride in James Brown Park.

Bryant Commons

Located in the heart of Hinesville is a 150-acre park waiting for you to come take a ride. The Bryant Commons Park trail is perfect for you to embrace all that winter brings! It is located on what was the former property of the late Senator Glenn Bryant and his wife, Trudie. Take in the beauty of the fishing ponds and the fields that were used for horses back in the day. As you finish cycling, stop by the Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association Museum. It is in the former home of our late senator and is dedicated to the preservation of the telecommunications industry.

See if the kids can use a phone without a screen for a change!

Pro Tip: Veterans Memorial Walk is also located in Bryant Commons Park! Stop by to show your appreciation to those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
