6 Things To Do Without Snow in Liberty County

There are so many wonderful things to enjoy about winter. Some areas around the country are experiencing super-low temperatures with snow already! In Liberty County, we’re normally still at a pleasant temperature somewhere between 60 and 70 degrees. Since snow is an extremely rare occurrence around here, we made a list of 6 things for y’all to do here without it. Keep reading to find out more about each one!

1) Make a Pot of Low Country Boil.

If you’ve ever been to a coastal community in the South, you will have discovered that fresh seafood is more than just a menu item. It’s a way of life! Liberty County is no exception to this. Catching our own crab, fish and shrimp is one of our favorite pastimes around here! They have a major influence on the foods we eat and how we prepare and share those delectable bites. Nothing says southern quite like a big ole steaming pot of low country boil, and it’s not a meal to pass up on any time you’re offered! 2) Have a bonfire!

Even though it’s not super cold outside, it’s still a great time to have bonfires with friends and family. You can tell old stories, pick the guitar and relax with a cold beverage. Sit back and enjoy that picture-perfect coastal sunset while keeping yourself warm by the fire.

3) Visit Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center!

Located in Midway, Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center is an excellent example of tidal and freshwater wetlands. This site provides a unique opportunity for education and appreciation! Search for the numerous species of plants and animals that inhabit this area. The boardwalk is 7/10ths of a mile from beginning to end and will take you through 8 different ecosystems! Don’t forget to visit the lookout tower for an even better view.

4) Book a Hunt with Dorchester Hunting Preserve.

Dorchester Hunting Preserve is a 5,000-acre hunting hotspot, located just outside of Midway. One of the biggest highlights of the property are the bird hunting options which include quail and pheasant. Hunters can enjoy half or full-day hunts complete with well-trained dogs and guides to assist. No matter if you prefer hunting, fishing or getting back to the basics in the great outdoors, Dorchester Hunting Preserve has plenty of options to enjoy. Click here to book a visit!

5) Go for a kayaking adventure!

Head down to the Sunbury Crab Company and rent a kayak to enjoy a beautiful day on the water. This spot has direct access to our Intracoastal waterways, so be sure to watch out for the tides. Venture through the marsh and relax in the sun on a beautiful day. When you come back in from a day on the water, grab a table and order some fresh seafood and a cold beverage!
