Military Spouse Bus Tour Explained

Moving to a new community can be daunting task for many military families. You often have to learn an entirely new area & don’t even mention trying to make new friends. Even though it can be a daunting task, we have many resources and opportunities for military spouses to learn more about our community. One of those is the Military Spouse Bus Tour!

What are some of the activities done on tour?

Some of the activities we have done with the spouses are:

  • Cast Net Fishing- We visited one of Liberty Counties various fishing docks & tossed our cast nets in order to fish—catch & release only). This allowed for a new experience for many and a very unique bonding experience for the entire group.
  • Making Pizza- Melody’s Coastal Café in Midway allowed one of our tour groups to make their own pizzas for lunch. They were walked through all proper steps & got a chance to toss some dough! The best part of the experience was the fact the food was DELICIOUS!
  • Packing Backpacks for Backpack Buddies- One of the many things that make us #LibertyCountyProud is the opportunity to give back in some way. United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Backpack Buddies program serves 400 local school children weekly with two nutritious meals and snacks to help with weekend food insecurities. Our tour group was able to make a difference in their new community by helping put together these meals for the for students.
  • Touring Historical Sites- Liberty County is rich with history & we like to share that history with others by visiting historical sites & museums such as the Historic Baptismal Trail, Fort Morris, Cay Creek & ITPA Telephone Museum.
