Each season in Liberty County provides its own unique experience. From outdoor recreation to annual events, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Spring Bucket List

Liberty County Seasonal Bucket Lists Spring

1) Attend Small World Festival on March 9th from 12-9pm or our first bi-annual Food Truck Festival of the year on Saturday, March 23rd from 11am-4pm.

Both events will take place in downtown Hinesville with free live music to enjoy at no cost!

2) Visit Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center.

Walk through 8 different ecosystems that can be found from the beginning to the end of the boardwalk. Don’t forget to make a pit stop at the lookout tower!

3) Have a picnic in one of our many parks!

Any of these spots would make the perfect setting for a relaxing and quiet meal.

4) Enjoy fresh seafood & feel the breeze at the Sunbury Crab Company.

Coastal views and good food are two of the many things that make spring in Liberty County amazing.

5) Browse local goods at the downtown Hinesville Farmers Market!

The first market of the season will take place on Thursday, March 7th from 3-7pm.

Summer Bucket List

Liberty County Seasonal Bucket Lists Summer

1) Chase a sunrise or sunset.

There are several places to take in beautiful views around here. Click here to learn more about some of our favorites!

2) Cool off from the summer heat with a cold beer.

Grab a drink from the Parrot & Frog or Doodles Billiards in Hinesville or visit Liberty County’s only brewery, Hops on Fire Brewing in Midway!

3) Spend a day on the water in a kayak.

Check out this list of spots to put in and paddle out!

4) Play on the splash pad in Bradwell Park!

This newly renovated park has quickly become a local favorite spot in downtown Hinesville. Make plans to splash around this summer! The water is on from 10am-8pm. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

5) Chow down on some classic southern BBQ.

Sho’ Nuff Smokin’ Good BBQ and Smokin’ Pig are two local favorites.

6) Go for a drive down Barrington Ferry Road and hunt for tree spirits!

Don’t forget to make a pit stop at the Historic Baptismal Trail while you’re in Riceboro.

Fall Bucket List

Liberty County Seasonal Bucket Lists Fall

1) Listen to live music and eat delicious food at our 2nd bi-annual Food Truck Festival of the year on Saturday, September 21st from 11am-4pm.

2) Plan your Halloween costume and be ready for the HDDA’s annual Scarecrow Rock N Stroll! It will take place on October 25th from 6-9pm.

3) Visit our state historic site, Fort Morris.

It’s the only Revolutionary historic site in Georgia with original earth works.

4) Hop in the car, roll your windows down and cruise along a dirt road!

We suggest Old Sunbury and Cay Creek roads.

5) Grab your rod and reel and catch some fish at the Sunbury Boat Ramp!

This is also a great spot to watch boats come in and out of the water.

6) Visit famous film locations.

Winter Bucket List

Liberty County Seasonal Bucket Lists Winter

1) Watch one of the only illuminated Christmas Parades in southeast Georgia!

Mark your calendars & plan to be in downtown Hinesville by 6:30pm on Friday, December 6.

2) Visit Live Oak Public Library.

Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a good book! Liberty County has 2 physical locations for you to visit – 236 West Memorial Drive in Hinesville and 9397 East Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.

3) Have a warm cup of Gluhwein at Zum Rosenhof.

Enjoy authentic German cuisine with a classic winter cocktail! If going out isn’t your thing, you can make a cup at home! Click here for the recipe.

4) Take pictures at the holiday photo opp in Gap Park!

2024 will be our second year decorating this location for the holidays, and we can’t wait.

5) Visit a museum!

In Liberty County, we have several museums that offer an interactive way to learn about our history! Visit the Midway Museum, Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association Telephone Museum, Dorchester Academy or the 3rd ID Museum at Fort Stewart.
